Transfer Policies
Our policies in relation to department transfers.
Members in good standing are permitted to request a transfer between departments. All transfers must adhere to the eligibility criteria and guidelines outlined below.
1. Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for a transfer, a member must meet the following criteria.
- Submission: Requests must be submitted formally by creating a ticket in the Department Hub.
- Probationary Status: Members must not be in their probationary or training period.
- Minimum Tenure: Members must have been in their current department for at least 1 month (30 days) before being able to request a transfer, unless given special permission by Department Coordination.
- Disciplinary & Leave Status: Members are ineligible to transfer if they:
- Are currently on a Leave of Absence (LOA) or have had an LOA in the past 7 days.
- Are under active suspension.
- Have received a strike in the last 2 weeks (14 days).
2. Departmental Discretion and Restrictions
- Disciplinary Avoidance: Departments reserve the right to deny a transfer if a member is excessively inactive, or if the transfer appears to be an attempt to avoid disciplinary action. Members may request a transfer after the 14 day strike period.
- Terminations: Members cannot transfer out of a department they have been terminated from.
- Right of Refusal: Receiving departments maintain total discretion to accept or deny a transfer. If a transfer is denied, the department must provide a valid reason.
- Promotion Freeze: Upon a successful transfer, the member is subject to a two-week promotion freeze and cannot be promoted beyond the rank of Corporal (or equivalent) in the first month of the transfer.
Exceptions may be made upon explicit, written approval from Department Coordination.
